Bouwe is actively involved in the Association for Homeschooling and the Pestalozzi Trust and has taken part in various meeting with Department officials since 2004. With his family he has been running the SAHomeschoolers website since 2010.

Homeschool Associations from all over South Africa and the Pestalozzi Trust met with Department of Basic Education (DBE) on 9,10 October to discuss new policy on Home Education. Homeschool representatives experienced the meeting positively, because they received ample time to present their case.
